What I Believe
I believe the sin of Adam was the reason why Jesus came to Earth to redeem mankind by sacrificing himself on a cross.  I believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant and authoritative word of God, given to us for correcting our moral and ethical behavior.  Jesus tells us in John 14: 6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Luke tells us in Acts 4: 12 that "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." I believe these two passages are very clear about Jesus being the only way to obtain salvation. My concept of the church is based on Matthew 28: 18-20 and Acts 1: 8.  Jesus gave the church a very important mission; to go into the local community and the world to reach the unchurched with the saving grace of Jesus Christ, baptize them in his name and teach them to be obedient to Christ.  I believe Jesus is very clear in these passages to what the mission of the church should be.  The main emphasis that Jesus is making in Matthew 28: 18-20 involves "make disciples."  Acts 1: 8 is a restatement of the Great Commission with specific emphasis on the strategy.  Making disciples should start within the church and move outward into the local community, and the world.  Jesus gives the church the power to do this through the Holy Spirit.  The strategy that Jesus has for reaching the world with the gospel is a systematic combination of disciple making with an outward focus. In order to make a difference in the moral behavior in American and the world, we need more churches to make a serious commitment to be obedient to what Jesus tells us in this scripture. If we want the moral behavior to change, churches need to challenge their members to get more serious about their faith and be obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ and not be afraid to go against what doesn't agree with Biblical scripture.
Matthew 28:18-20

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
